Miaaaammmm!

Après des vacances de quatre semaines aux US, il y a évidemment beaucoup de choses à faire quand on rentre. Non prévu au programme: la confection de confitures! Mon mari, très gourmand, a trouvé des reines claudes et des mirabelles au marché et n'a pas résisté à l'idée de confitures maison. Alors hier nous avons coupé et mis à macérer dans du sucre les fruits, et aujourd'hui je les ai faits cuire et mis en pots. Il ne reste qu'à fermer lesdits pots une fois refroidis...en en laissant un de côté pour une consommation immédiate, bien sûr!

After a four-week vacation in the US, there are obviously lots of things to do upon returning home. One thing that I hadn't planned, though: jam-making! My husband, who has a serious sweet tooth, found greengage and mirabelle plums (the latter are the small yellow plums pictured below) at the market yesterday and immediately thought of homemade jam. So yesterday we cut and put the plums to soak in their sugar, and today I cooked the jams and put them into jars. The only thing left to do now is to seal the jars when they've cooled...leaving one open for immediate enjoyment, of course!
