Je me rattrape!

Après une loooongue pause pour des vacances bien dépaysantes dans les fjords norvégiens et la Hollande (superbes, tous!), c'est la rentrée! Cependant, l'été ne semble pas décidé à s'en aller - tant mieux! Nous n'avons pas eu de printemps ici, et le résultat est que toute la végétation a bien du retard. Au marché, on trouve encore des pêches et des melons succulents, et dans mon jardin, le savonnier est en pleine floraison...avec 6 semaines de retard! Normalement, il fleurit mi-juillet!

After a looooong pause for a vacation in the Norwegian fjords and in Holland (gorgeous, both of them!), it's time to get back to "normal". Summer, however, hasn't left us yet - I'm thrilled! We didn't have a spring this year, and the result is that all the vegetation is late. At the market, we can still find wonderful peaches and melons, and in my garden the soap tree is flowering...6 weeks late! It usually flowers mid-July!

Côté travaux manuels, je continue le pull torsadé pour mon mari, et je quilte un petit quilt très coloré.

As for what I'm doing, I'm still working on the cabled sweater for my husband, and I'm quilting a very colorful little quilt.

Les bordures m'ont fait hésiter pendant un moment - comment quilter dans des rectangles irréguliers? Mais j'ai enfin trouvé l'inspiration dans le livre Free Motion Quilting d'Angela Walters. Chaque "chaînon" peut s'adapter à la taille de son espace. J'y retourne!

The borders had me stumped for a little while - how to quilt in irregular rectangles? But I finally found some inspiration in Angela Walters' book Free-Motion Quilting. Each little "link" can be adapted to fit the size of its available space. And now, back to it!
