One of my favorite parts of quilt-making, and maybe my number-one favorite part, is the quilting, and I do FMQ on my domestic machine. Up till now, I've made quilts that were to be used on beds or for cuddling with, so they are moderately quilted and stay puffy and cosy. However, during the class I took with Philippa Naylor in September, I began an "exercise" and, since it's too small to cuddle up with, I decided to go all out with techniques that are new to me. That means that I'm quilting it densely. I've been at it for several hours now, and it's far from being finished! But here's a peek at a quilt motif that I'm using and like. It really underlines the appliqué and trapunto, as you can see.
J'ai commencé par des courbes composées de "perles" pour diviser le fond / I began with curved strings of pearls to divide up the background.
And here's a close-up of the first motif I'm using to "flatten" the background.
